Natural Chicken Flavor

Natural chicken flavor is chicken broth that has been dried into a powder. It is used as seasoning.

Natural Flavor (in Homestyle diets)

In our Homestyle from the Prairie canned diets, natural flavor is a combination of Glycine and Dextrose. Dextrose is a simple sugar that provides added energy. Glycine, however, is an amino acid that acts as a potent neurotransmitter. When used in combination and heated, Dextrose and Glycine chemically interact (called the Maillard reaction), a natural process responsible for browning and imparting a highly pleasing and palatable roasted flavor to foods, in this case the gravy. It is the same process that occurs when human foods are sautéed.

Natural Flavor (in Instinct kibble)

Natural flavor is an excellent source of all-natural flavor and aroma.

Natural Lamb Flavor

Natural lamb flavor is lamb broth that has been dried into a powder. It is used as seasoning. Nature’s Variety lamb is obtained from Scrapie-free flocks.

Natural Vegetable Flavor

Nature's Variety uses a non-meat based palatant called Natural Vegetable Flavor in our Instinct Biscuits. This Natural Vegetable Flavor is derived from plant-based microbial sources. Using a vegetable or plant-based flavoring system provides a healthy alternative to common proteins (like chicken or beef) or other meat-based palatants.

Niacin Supplement

Niacin (Vitamin B3) is a water soluble vitamin that cannot be stored in the body because any unused niacin is excreted in urine. Niacin functions in over 50 body processes and is primarily important in the release of energy from carbohydrates. Niacin aids in the breakdown of carbohydrates, protein and fats, in the formation of red blood cells and in the detoxification of several drugs and chemicals. The diversity of niacin's roles makes it essential for the supply of energy to and the maintenance of all body cells. It is an essential vitamin for a healthy nervous system and brain function and is one of the first vitamins to be used–up in times of stress.
